Record Shops & Stuff

So in the last 2 weeks I've made stops in Vegas & New Mexico. I have never liked Vegas, as a matter of fact I loathed it. New Mexico... what's in New Mexico? I only go to Vegas for 2 things, NBA summer league, and Record City. Oh the sandwiches at Capriotti's are pretty good too. Anyhow luckily the Bulls won both games that I attended & Record City once again didn't dissapoint. + I got on NYC TV as I sat right behind Walt Frazier. haha New Mexico was another story. My tour guide wasn't so much. Basically it was like getting ditched in the middle of nowhere. I hate it when people flake on you. Luckily I had done my research in advance & looked up some record shops. So besides a few sites, I spent good portions of my days in shops looking for Bob Wills records. Although I came up empty on the king of western swing, I filled my record bag to the brim! I now have 2 reasons to visit Alburquerque. Natural Sound & Charley's Records & Tapes. Charleys especially. I really don't like going to Ameoba anymore. To be honest I try to avoid it. The last time I was there I felt like I was shopping at Walmart. Sometimes when I walk into a shop I get a weird feeling.. No joke, before I look at any record or browse any section I automatically know I'm in trouble. Meaning forget about spending a few bucks & start figuring out if I will have enough to make the rent after I leave the shop. As soon as I walked into Charleys I got that feeling. Although maybe it was the girl behind the counter who kind of resembled Zooey Deschanel but much cooler because she worked at a record shop. Once she started talking to me about VG and VG+ I started to get all ferklempted! Jesus your hot when you talk record grades! You should have seen her let loose on all the yuppies and hipsters! I like you... I digress. Ameoba is cool & it definitely has it's place but I would rather do a road trip to Vegas and hit Record City up. Or for that matter Rasputins in SF. Charleys was awesome & I know I will be back before next year. It worth the plane ticket. I can't wait to go home & listen to my Jay McShan record!
