Themselves "CrownsDown"

 A few months removed from dropping there slamming mixtape "theFREEhoudini " the duo of Doseone & Jel are back with there third album "CrownsDown."  It's been a minute, solo albums from both as well a a grip of projects including Subtle, 13 & God,  cLOUDDEAD, Deep Puddle just to name a few- so it's dope to have the two of them back and focused on a proper Themselves record. 

Word is the two of them sat down and picked out some of there favorite themes in hip hop.  You know - the "diss track" the "don't bite" & of course in there case "guess who's back."  It's an interesting and fun formula for the listener, especially if you go in listening knowing the idea behind the record.  It really come's through on "Skinning the Drum" which is basically Jel's time to shine as he takes us back down memory lane with some classic breaks given the proper Jel treatment with his little fingers working that MPC magic we've come to expect from Jel.

They put up this hailarious and equally informing podcast via the Anticon site, which is basically a sort of behind the scenes & what tracks inspired the album kinda deal.  It's pretty damn funny, props for the Saafir(my favorite rapper) & shit they end the 25 minute mix down with Tim Dog!  haha  So what's not to love.  Check it here>
